TECNO unveiled its new POVA 8 Pro 5G smartphone, focusing on mobile gaming and an expanded feature set. In addition to a dedicated gaming chip and a high refresh rate main display, the device stands out for its unique camera module with an integrated "matrix" display.

One of the smartphone's key features is the Alive Matrix Display on the back cover. It's integrated into the triangular camera cluster and consists of 177 mini-LEDs. The mini-display displays lighting effects for calls, notifications, games, and other events.

The new device's performance is driven by the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor. It works in tandem with the TECNO P1 chip, which boosts frame rates using interpolation technology.

The company claims the smartphone can deliver between 90 and 144 fps depending on the game genre (RPG, shooter, or MOBA). The device has a maximum RAM of 12 GB and a storage capacity of 512 GB.

The main 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2644x1208 pixels supports a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Peak backlight brightness reaches 4500 nits, and the touch sampling rate is 2800 Hz. The brand claims the screen accurately recognizes touches even with wet and oily fingers.

On the back, there's a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, while the front features a 13MP front camera. The 6,500 mAh battery supports 45W charging, 10W wired reverse charging, and a bypass function for gaming.

Other features of the gadget include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, an IR port, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K protection. The smartphone runs HiOS 16, based on Android 16. TECNO promises two numbered Android updates and three years of security patches.

In addition to the standard version, the company unveiled the POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition, featuring a custom design, boot animation, and wallpaper. Memory configurations remain unchanged. The new device will go on sale in India on August 18; pricing has not yet been announced.
