StarBook 7 Linux laptop gets Intel Core Ultra 7 chip and 4K display

Star Labs, a British brand specialising in Linux-based digital equipment, has presented a new laptop called StarBook 7. Distinctive features of the device are powerful hardware, display with advanced features and impressive battery life.

StarBook 7 is equipped with a 14-inch IPS-screen with 4K resolution (3840x2160 pixels), anti-glare coating and maximum brightness of 625 nits. For the performance of the novelty is responsible for the Core Ultra 7 165H processor. The amount of RAM, depending on the configuration, is up to 96 GB, NVMe-storage - up to 2 TB.

The set of interfaces of the model includes modules Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, two ports Thunderbolt 4.0, three USB 3.0 Type-A, one USB 2.0 Type-A and HDMI, as well as a slot for micro SD cards. A 65Wh battery with support for 65W fast charging is claimed by the manufacturer to provide up to 14 hours of battery life for the device.

The laptop comes pre-installed with Linux Mint 21.3 (Cinnamon/Mate/XFCE), Ubuntu LTS 24.4 or Manjaro (Gnome/Plasma/XFCE). The company promises five years of firmware updates via Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS).

The StarBook 7 is on sale on the official Star Labs website with prices starting at $1449. As a more affordable alternative, the company offers a model based on Intel N200 chip without Thunderbolt ports - it will cost buyers $713.
