Samsung has unveiled a new foldable flagship Galaxy Z Fold7. Compared to its predecessor, the smartphone is noticeably thinner, lighter and has larger screens both inside and outside. The performance has also increased and photography has been improved with a new main camera and algorithms used in the Galaxy S25 series.

The device has become noticeably thinner: the thickness in the closed state has decreased from 12.1 to 8.9 mm, and in the opened state - from 5.6 to 4.2 mm. Also, the gadget has become lighter: 215 instead of 239 g. At the same time, the dimensions of the smartphone increased due to the enlarged screens and are 143.2 x 158.4 x 4.2 mm in the open state and 72.8 x 158.4 x 8.9 mm - in the closed state.

The internal 8-inch display (the Galaxy Z Fold6 had a 7.6-inch display) is Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with QXGA+ (2184x1968) resolution, supports adaptive frequency from 1 to 120 Hz, and brightness reaches 2,600 nits. The main screen design has been redesigned to be thinner, lighter and more durable. This was achieved by adding a titanium plate and increasing the density of ultra-thin glass by 50%. The external screen has increased to 6.5 inches (it was 6.3 inches) and got FHD+ (2520x1080) resolution with a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. In addition, due to the 21:9 aspect ratio, the outer display has become slightly wider.

The main update on the camera side is the switch to a 200-megapixel main module (f/1.7, OIS), replacing last year's 50-megapixel sensor. It works in conjunction with ProVisual Engine, a proprietary AI image processing engine, as well as two additional modules: a 12MP super-wide-angle (f/2.2, 120° field of view) and a 10MP TV (f/2.4, 3x optical zoom). Both screens have 10MP cameras built into each. At the same time, internally Samsung has abandoned the technology of the under-screen camera, installing a conventional module with a cutout.

Performance is driven by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm) processor, which Samsung claims outperforms last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by 38% in terms of CPU, 26% in terms of GPU, and 41% in terms of NPU. RAM is 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X standard depending on the configuration, while storage ranges from 256GB to 1TB. Battery capacity is unchanged at 4400 mAh with support for Super Fast Charging 2.0 wired charging and wireless reverse charging.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is available for pre-order starting at $2,000 in black, silver and blue colors. Sales will open on July 25, 2025.
