This year, rumors spread online that Samsung would abandon plans to release a “plus” version of its flagship S26. However, according to Korean media reports, such a device will still appear in the company's catalog in 2026 — and for a very mundane reason. According to a publication by The Elec citing insider information, the company intends to reconsider its decision to completely replace the Plus version with a slim model with the Edge prefix. According to the source, the 2026 model range will include four smartphones. It is reported that in the first half of the year, the company planned to release smartphones with the code numbers M1 (basic), M2 (Edge), and M3 (Ultra), but recently tasked its employees with developing a device with the index M Plus. The publication cites poor sales of the S25 Edge model as the reason for this decision, with production allegedly “declining sharply since June” and the planned output volume for the rest of the year at 300,000 units, compared to 500,000 for the S25+ model during the same period last year. According to the insider, the Edge series will not disappear from the market, but it will not replace the Plus version either. Samsung itself has not yet commented on The Elec's publication. |
