Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE, a special edition version of its flagship series. The new device is the first Galaxy S26 model to feature One UI 9, the interface previously debuted with the Galaxy Z Fold8 foldable phone. Furthermore, the device is built on a proprietary chip and supports the Galaxy AI suite of AI features. The smartphone features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It's powered by a 3nm Exynos 2500 processor with 8GB of RAM, and a 4900mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare. All this is housed in a 7.4mm-thick, 193g-weight case with IP68 water and dust resistance. The camera set includes a 50MP main module with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. For video recording, an auto-centering feature tracks a selected subject and keeps them in the center of the frame, while a super-steady horizontal mode helps capture smoother videos while moving. A 12MP front camera with a wide viewing angle is available for selfies and video calls. The Galaxy AI suite includes features for working with smartphone content. For example, Photo Assist lets you edit photos using text queries, including adding and removing objects, changing scene details, and restoring individual elements. Gemini Omni is used to create and edit videos from photos and other gallery content. Along with the updated One UI 9 interface, the smartphone received new Galaxy AI features: the "My Day" widget can generate personalized cards with weather and other event information, and "AI suggestions" work with notifications and some third-party apps. Like the company's other flagships, the smartphone will receive seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security updates. The Galaxy S26 FE will go on sale on September 4, starting at $699.99. It will be available in Graphite, Pistachio, and Blueberry. |
