Users discussed the possible merger of their software platforms, the abandonment of proprietary skins, and changes in the companies' strategies. Now, this has been officially confirmed. As it turns out, realmeUI 7 is realme's final custom skin. With the release of Android 17, the brand's devices will be updated to ColorOS 17, the proprietary firmware of OPPO, realme's parent company. The new system will roll out before the end of the year, and the list of compatible devices and the update schedule are expected to be revealed later. It is noted that the transition will not be mandatory. Owners of supported smartphones will be able to decide for themselves whether to upgrade to ColorOS or remain on realme UI. Furthermore, after installing the new system, the company will allow users to revert to the previous version. realme also emphasized that previously released devices will continue to receive promised updates and service support, and the signature design, features, and other features of the realme interface will remain even after the transition to ColorOS. The company specifically noted that realme will remain an independent brand within OPPO and will continue to produce its own devices. For users, the changes will likely be minimal, as realme UI has been built on ColorOS from the start.
