For Hard reset Samsung Galaxy A40s use following steps

1. The smartphone must be turned off

2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time for a few seconds (up to 20)

3. After the SAMSUNG logo appears on the screen, you can release the keys

4. Now press the Power and Volume Up buttons to open Recovery Mode

5. Select "wipe data / factory reset", the Volume Up / Down keys are used to navigate the menus, and the Power key is used to confirm the selection

6. In the menu, go to the line "yes" and press the Power button
