The new OnePlus 15 differs significantly from its predecessor in both appearance and technology. But there are also some subtle changes. For example, only by taking it apart was it possible to discover that the manufacturer had worked hard on repairability and internal layout. The smartphone's body is made using a ceramic coating obtained by micro-arc oxidation, and underneath it is a lightweight fiberglass plate. This combination makes the device sturdy but not heavy. Inside, all key components are easily accessible. The back cover can be removed without any problems after heating. Underneath it is a 7300 mAh battery and a triple camera unit, and all the boards are spaced so that they can be replaced without risk of damaging adjacent components. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor is located to the side of the cameras and is cooled by a large vapor chamber, copper foil, thermal paste, and graphite pads. The way the device is reassembled is also worth mentioning: a couple of screws are enough to return the entire structure to its original state, and the use of a minimal amount of glue greatly simplifies maintenance. As a result, the PBKreviews portal rated the OnePlus 15 at 8.5 out of 10 on the repairability scale. |
