Lenovo unveiled a modular laptop constructor

This year, Lenovo brought many unusual concepts to MWC 2026. One of them was the ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept, a modular laptop that offers quick and easy replacement of virtually any component without the need for tools.

Externally, it is a 14-inch laptop, but with an additional 14-inch screen. In its default position, the second display is attached to the back of the lid, back to back with the main one. This format makes it easy to show content to someone else: the user sees the image in front of them, and the person opposite sees it on the external screen. If necessary, this second screen can be detached, as it is attached with magnets.

The ThinkBook's keyboard is also removable and connects via Bluetooth. If you remove it and install the second display in its place, the laptop turns into a compact dual-screen system with an increased workspace. An alternative option is to place the removable screen on the side as a separate monitor. For this purpose, there is a built-in stand that attaches to the display with magnets and allows you to set it in landscape or portrait orientation.

The modules are secured with pogo-pin contacts. In addition to screens and keyboards, Lenovo has provided interchangeable ports: USB Type-A, USB Type-C, and HDMI can be rearranged thanks to special side compartments. Additional modules are stored in a compact case resembling a wireless headphone case.
