Apple has unveiled the updated iPad Air (sixth generation). The novelty for the first time for this series will be available in versions with two different screen sizes - 11 and 13 inches diagonal. The devices also received a more powerful processor, support for iPad Pro accessories and a new range of colors.

A distinctive feature of the new iPad Air is the Apple M2 chip with an eight-core central and 10-core graphics processor. If you take into account the increased memory bandwidth, its speed has increased by 50% compared to Apple M1. The manufacturer also indicates that the M2 chip has a built-in 16-core Neural Engine artificial intelligence algorithm gas pedal, which promises a 40% performance boost for AI applications. It also supports the Core ML framework, which focuses on local AI processing right on the device. Wi-Fi 6E support is present, and models with mobile connectivity are compatible with the 5G standard.

The 12-megapixel front-facing camera is now placed on the “long” side of the device to allow for comfortable video calling in a horizontal position.
The camera supports a machine learning-based Center Stage feature that keeps the device owner in view during a video call. The rear-facing camera also has a 12-megapixel resolution, but it supports video capture in 4K resolution and up to 240 frames per second. The stereo speakers in the iPad Air are horizontally oriented, spatial sound is supported, and the 13-inch model offers improved bass reproduction. Liquid Retina displays feature anti-reflective coating, enhanced brightness, True Tone support and P3 color space coverage.

Updated Apple iPad Air supports a wide range of accessories. These include the new Apple Pencil Pro stylus, which supports magnetic charging and registers with Find My to find lost devices. A simpler Apple Pencil (USB-C) stylus and Magic Keyboard with a “floating” holder are also supported, and a Smart Folio cover with a magnetic lock and multiple tilt angles has been released.

The Apple iPad Air is now available for purchase on Apple's website and in Apple stores in Space Gray (gray), Starlight (gold), Purple (magenta) and Blue (azure).

The 11-inch screen model goes on sale for $599 (Wi-Fi version) or $749 (Wi-Fi + 5G), while the 13-inch variant is priced at $799 (Wi-Fi) and $949 (Wi-Fi + 5G).Base versions offer 128GB of flash storage, while the tablet can carry up to 1TB at most.
